Second Generation of Internet Tablets. Upcoming internet tablets in 2011

The year 2010 was certainly the year of tablets aproximately 20 million of tablets were sold in 2010. Well that all started on 27th Jan when Steve Jobs announced the launch of one of the biggest revelation in the gadget world the Apple I Pad and since than 2010 has seen launch of many tablet pc like Samsung galaxy tab, Dell streak, Archos 70,101 and many others. The market for tablet pc grew to 20 million from scratch although maximum share was of apple i pad which sold 14.9 million units since april 2010 to december 2010.

Now the year 2011 is also expected to be a year of tablets as said by Steve Jobs in the launch of Apple I pad 2 that the year 2011 will be the year for apple ipad 2, well that statement would be a little overstated because of the upcoming 2nd generation tablet pc models. According to a research company Gartner in the year 2011 64 million tablet pc will be sold. In this article I will look at some of the upcoming models of tablet pc along with IPad 2

1. APPLE I PAD 2

Keeping his illness behind apple founder and CEO Steve Jobs launched the apple Ipad 2. The all new Ipad has lot of new features and a new sleek and lighter looks. To start with it is now 33%slimmer than first generation ipad even slimmer than Iphone 4 the weight is also been reduced by about 15% to just 600 grams. It has a new Dual core A5 processor,upto 9x faster graphics, With 2 cameras back hd and front facing. The Ipad 2 has all these features and still has the same battery back up of 10 hours. It will be shipping in two colors Black and White and White color will be available from day one as said by Steve Jobs. Ipad 2 will be available from march 11 in US and will be launch in 25 other countries on 25th march. It has a price tag starting from $499 for Wifi 16gb model to $829 for Wifi+3g 64gb model.

2. Motorola Xoom

Motorola xoom is to be consider as an Ipad killer. It is the first device to have the latest operating software of Google the Honeycomb 3.0 designed specially for tablets which can run apps at a higher resolution. Xoom obviously has an edge over tablets running on android 2.2. It has a 2mp front facing and a 5mp back camera. Unlike ipad xoom it has a full USB port to connect to other devices. It has 1Ghz dual core processor and priced at 599$.

3. RIM Blackberry playbook

Its been 6 months when it was first announced and still its not launched blackberry is certainly taking a long time in launching it although it has some good features as it has a 7inch screen with 1024x800 resolution a 1GHz dual core processor a 5MP rear facing and a 3Mp front facing camera and weighing just 425 grams. If its bein launched 6 months ago with such features it would be a big hit but 6 months is a big time and technology changes very fast so it will be a hard game for blackberry to capture the market now.

4. Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1

Galaxy Tab was considered to be the first biggest competitor for Ipad although it doesnot stand anywhere near in the sales region but features wise and look wise galaxy tab was certainly considered as the biggest threat. Samsung has also taken a next step by announcing Galaxy Tab 10.1 which comes with a larger display of 10.1inch with 1280x800 resolution a dual core tegra 2 processor and will run on android 3.0 honeycomb operating system, it will be available in 16gb and 32 gb. and has a front facing camera of 2mp and a 8mp rear camera with LED flash. With all these features it will be the biggest competitor of Ipad 2

5. LG Optimus pad

LG also steps into the tablet wars with their 8.9-inch Android tablet featuring Google’s new tablet optimized OS Honeycomb 3.0. Powered by NVIDIA’s Tegra 2 dual core 1GHz mobile processor. This tablet is capable of shooting 1080p Full HD 2D video or 720p HD 3D video it has a 5Mp rear and a 2MP front facing camera

6. HP Touchpad

HP also joins the tablet war and all set to launch its Web OS 3.0 touchpad. The Tablet will feature 1024x768 9.7 inch display made of gorilla glass, a 1.3 front facing camera, 1.2 Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon APQ 8060 processor, 1GB of RAM and comes in 16gb and 32 gb model 

7. HTC Flyer

You can never keep HTC out when it comes to mobile devices. In mobile industry HTC is one of the best company in the world and HTC is all set to bring its first tablet. HTC Flyer is a compact 7-inch touchscreen Android 2.3.3 tablet with 600x1024 pixels res, which will come with an integrated pressure-sensitive pen experience, courtesy of the new HTC Scribe technology. The feature will be used for note-taking and drawing. The tablet will be constructed out of HTC trademark aluminum unibody. It will be powered by a single-core 1.5GHz processor, and will feature 1GB RAM, coupled with 32GB of built-in storage (microSD slot is available). For photo and video taking the tablet biz will offer a 5MP main shooter, as well as a secondary 1.3MP front-facing cam for video chats. Powering all this goodness will be courtesy of a 4000mAh battery that is said to provide up to 4 hours of constant video playback. it certainly seems like a winner by its features.

It would definately be a year of tablets again and there willl be a very tough competition in the market. well according to me the biggest competition to Ipad 2 will be Motorola Xoom and Samsung Galaxy tab.
